I cannot entry in Root mode

when i install Ubuntu during the installation i have been never ask about the root mode and what password i would like to put , then when the installation finished and i run Ubuntu I do in Normal user, and if I want to change to Root Mode the system want me to put a password that i never wrote and worst, that i do not know. so i can not start the root mode, hope you can help me...
