Can't install from LiveCD - screen too small

Asked by cavendish61

Installation procedure - from CDDVDROM to a second Hard Drive. The ISO file is on the CD. Attempting to install on an empty D : Drive I have the Time Zone screen OK. I cannot access the next install screen - the button is actually there at the bottom of the screen (viewable when shutting down) - despite many attempts. Thanks.

I believe this is with a LiveCD, If so you may want to try with the Alternate CD.

Hi there,
Sorry but I do not understand the reply. I dowloaded ubuntu 7.04 as an ISO file and then wrote or burned the CD from the ISO file. This disc then boots succesfully in another machine but I cannot bring up the next install screen to install ubuntu on the "D" drive which is free. I do not have an Alternate CD and do not really understand "LiveCD".
Thanks.

Follow this link and read the paragraph titled "Installation using the Alternate CD".
You can download the CD from here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

You have to check the little box which is at the bottom, after "Start Download".

Thanks for that. Much more progress. However, about half way through - "Kernel Installation Failed". Nevertheless this actual problem is solved so will close this ticket.
Thanks.
