Error while installing vodafone wireless software

Asked by BIRDIE

Hi all. While trying to install vodafone Mobile Connect software I get this error when I click on the setup file -

Archive: /media/VMC Lite 9.4.3.16284/setup_vmc_lite.exe
[/media/VMC Lite 9.4.3.16284/setup_vmc_lite.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /media/VMC Lite 9.4.3.16284/setup_vmc_lite.exe or
/media/VMC Lite 9.4.3.16284/setup_vmc_lite.exe.zip, and cannot find /media/VMC Lite 9.4.3.16284/setup_vmc_lite.exe.ZIP, period.

I only have basic pc skills. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Peter

That is Windows software, that wil NOT work as you are using Ubuntu and Ubuntu is not Windows.

Is this a USB 3G dongle type thing? What hardware are you trying to get running?

you don't need any software for connecting to internet, you need to configure your vodafon adapter through network connections...ie System>preferences>network connections
select wired network and configure it by providing all the details like then you need to specify which number it should dial out then user name and pw both are required
I have worked same way with my Reliance Mobile about 2 yrs back and there was no problem. Don't get confused with Wiresless tab that is meant for laptops.
