creating or editing DVD movie

I have some recorded one ceremony with my DVD handy cam. I now want to burn it on DVD movie and put some background music sound and removing its original recorded sound inside.

What kind of program should I install ? Could you please tell me minimum system requirement?
It sound like video editing. but all I wanna do is I have some photos and recorded videos of that show. I will make video movie together with that with my favorite nice background songs.

It should also support transition if it could.

Pitivi, it`s simple and ligth weigth, and it`s going to be by default every ubuntu. Or if you want something more spefisticated yuo can try "lives".
