I have a similar problem with WinXP/Ub9.10 dual boot.

What I do is to press "e" and edit the Windows XP boot menu as follows:-

root (hd0,1)
chainloader +1

The I am able to boot into Win XP and continue with my work.

This is not a satisfactory solution since I have to do this each time I boot into windows, but it works and I can get on with my work in Win XP.

Perhaps you could try this until someone comes up with a more permanant solution.

kind regards
srikumar

Thank you for your proposal. I enter 'e' at the boot and continue boot after change the Grub boot as you write. But after continue boot it give same result as before. How do I make sure it is my edited commands that boot, and not the commands from Ubuntu?
