Hi,

It's not completely clear from your question, is your GRUB broken or not? You say you can choose Windows, so GRUB is working, right?

So, if GRUB is working, try choosing an old kernel (by default, GRUB tries to boot on the lastest kernel. However, if for some reason the kernel does not work on your machine, you should still have access to a list of older ones).

If GRUB is really broken, it is not very difficult to reinstall it from the Ubuntu CD, see http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-24113.html for instance.

Hope this helps!
