The steps would be so tedious and long to type so we might as well maximize the use of Ubuntu's community help pages. Here, try reading this link for informations regarding the dual booting of Ubuntu with Windows already installed:

Hi :)

Please boot into a LiveCd session
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

and try the command

sudo fdisk -l

where " -l" is a lower-case " -L". Giving us the output might be helpful. Also it would help to know what your cpu speed is and how much ram your machine has. Don't worry if you can't tell us all those things, just some or an approximation would be a help. The main thing is finding out if the LiveCd session works at all

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
