From anywhere with any app. Boot messages show driver loaded - it does not appear in places as a line item. Does appear in Computer although it will not recogonize a CD or DVD mounted. Brasero does not see the CD nor does k3b. I searched all sorts of forums and no matter what I try - zilch

Hi :)

When you are booing into Ubuntu do you get several choices for booting up Ubuntu? Can you boot into an older kernel version and check Ubuntu still recognises your cd/-drive there? Please let us know

I went back to vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic - as far back as I go and could not bring up xdm so had to try it via command line cdrecord. Same thing.

Hi :)

I think this is a really easy linux problem to fix and it does occur fairly often. However, i have to admit that it is way beyond my skills at the moment. Please could you re-post this question in a general linux forum to try to get a faster, better answer
http://www.linuxquestions.org

Someone else may appear in launchpad with the answer to this but they might not, or they might take ages. It seems this question has not received the range of answers we normally get in here. There is always ubuntuforums also but i don't have their address.

Please, if you do get a right answer from elsewhere please post the link back into here to help us out.

Apols, thanks and regards from
Tom :)

Apology ? IS this NOT the Ubuntu Shell answer men? or women? This has got to be a codex problem. the cdrom and dvd are recognized but linux just does not recognize the disk is inserted. I have opened a bug report and have been searching endlessly. No disrespect folks, but its very apparent that thsi has been occurring for quite some time. I have seen all sorts of supposed work arounds and have tried all. WHY? Its not working as designed but IS working as coded.

Hi :)

Have you been able to test the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)

This is extreme level issue that almost every person is facing it you can check https://apksdownload.com/undead-slayer-mod/ where I faced the same installation problem.

Can you help with this problem?
