can no longer boot in to lucid dbus missing

Asked by Dave Stroud

I was having no problems at all in opened luciddesktop. The only update that I did was a grub. When I shut down and re booted it got to loading desktop and stopped with a message saying there is a problem with home folder. Tried to use rescue mode wit same result. Rescue would not come up.Went into 9.10 and checked the home folder on lucid and the x log which said stated a fatal error with a halt in /var/run/dbus no such file. and sure enough dbus file is empty. My question is can it be restored and how, or will I need to reinstall? Thanks again

I figured a way to fix myself. In case someone else has this problem. I fixed it by running cd in rescue mode and did update and then fsck. Booted right up after that.
