Display Resolution get back to Default on Reboot

Asked by razi_qazi

Hello.

My name is Razi. I'm new to Ubuntu Linux. I'm using Pentium 4 2.40GHz, 512 Mb Ram and Nvidia Gforce MX 440SE, I'm having little problem with display Resolution, whenever I reboot my system, Resolution will get back to the default setting and I have to re-adjust that resolution to 1024x768.

and also get this warning " It appears that your graphics driver does not support the necessary extensions to use this tool. Do you want to use your graphics driver vendor's tool instead? "

There is anyway that I can set Default to 1024x768?

Thanks.

Regards

run:

gksudo nvidia-settings

You can setup the display then click "Write to x config file"

The setting will now stick

I select the setting to 1024x768 and 87Hz (Interlace) and after that I press "Save to X Configuration File". But an error comes which is as follows

" Failed to parse existing X config file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'! ".
