Help with installing Kubuntu interface onto Ubuntu

have installed Ubuntu and use Evolution mail. I did a clean install of Kubuntu and Evolution mail was not installed. So I did a clean install of Ubuntu and now want to know that if I just install the user interface of Kubuntu will all my installed application still be there.

Hello,

Evolution wasn't installed when you installed Kubuntu because it is not the default mail client for Kubuntu. I expect you can install Evolution in Kubuntu though, by typing (without quotes) "sudo apt-get install evolution" into a terminal.

Alternatively, in answer to your actual question, you can install the kubuntu-desktop package which will install the main Kubuntu programs and change the look of your Ubuntu to Kubuntu with KDE but still keep all the programs installed in Ubuntu, if I remember correctly.
