I used to download my music using LimeWire when I was on Windows, before I saw the light. Remember that all the files on LimeWire are downloaded from another PC, which is sharing that file; this means that the results you get when you enter a keyword are directly proportional to the shared matching archives in someone's PC. Having that in mind, think of the number of people who have not seen the light, still running on windows, sharing archives on LimeWire. It sure is a large number. Now think of the number of people that run Linux. big number but not enough. what I'm trying to tell with all this chat is that is more convenient that you get used to Torrents, which are universal, and sometimes more useful. I like torrents better because you can download entire albums or entire discographies in one night. I don't know if I can post URL's here but theres a page called MiniNova, which is very useful for the torrent stuff.

Good Luck

I have a small system so I want to make it work with what is provided in the install. There is a larger spectrum, but basically I would prefer to remain true to default. What do I need to make the thing that says "Bit Torrent". Please keep in mind people when you post chat and not answers it lessens the chance someone else will REALLY answer my question. Now we are back at square 1.

BitTorrent isn't meant to index files (i.e. make them searchable). Instead it's means to "package" a whole bunch of files (or a single file) as a download. This is where it differs fundamentally from traditional p2p like KaZaA or LimeWire (Gnutella).

If you like Limewire, get the Linux version: http://www.limewire.com/download/download.php?version=linux_deb or http://www.limewire.com/LimeWireSoftLinuxDeb . Double click the file to install. You can also use the "Add/Remove" application to look for "gnutella" software; I found a Gnutella (i.e. Limewire uses) client for Linux that worked OK for me as well, but if you're used to Limewire, by all means, feel free to use it.

LimeWire does have a linux download, which I tried, but I could not make it work.

Can you help with this problem?
