can Feisty Fawn be installed on Intel Core 2 Duo & is it supported?

Asked by George Noon

I am assembling a new self-built computer -- Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 ATX Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz CPU
BFG Tech Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT 256 MB DDR2 SLI Graphics Card, Maxtor 200GB SATAII-300 Hard Drive
Samsung SH-S182 Super Writemaster Dual Layer DVD+R 8X / DVD-R 8X Optical Drive with Lightscribe
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Sound Card
The mother board had built-in Network Interface, though I may add a faster NIC Card
My question really is whether I will be able to install and use Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn on this set up or if I am likely to have major difficulties in doing so?
Thank you for any and all help and suggestions. ~~~G E Noon

macuto;
thank you: that sounds right and I might have figured it that way, if I'd spent a couple days reading other answers --- actually, found one quite similar after a couple hours.
As my build isn't quite ready for the OS [or maybe two, dual booted], I will have to get back to you and let you know how it works out.
Thanks again.
A few years back I bought and tried getting into Red Hat 5.2 [I think it was]; but I couldn't get the hang of it what with having so many other responsibilities and not enough time --- from all I see of the Ubunto Distro, it looks as though it will be less of steep climb, so to speak to learn to use it.
