Asked by Surut on 2007-07-23

hi,
I am having problems installing openoffice Quick Start package = oooqs-kde

when i try to install i get the following error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ruchi@ruchi-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install oooqs-kde
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
oooqs-kde: Depends: openoffice.org (> 2.0.0) but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-calc but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-draw but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-impress but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-draw but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-base but it is not going to be installed or
openoffice.org-writer but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

can anyone advice me how to resolve these issues with command line if possible

Thanks
Surut

Try with the command:
sudo apt-get install openoffice.org openoffice.org-calc openoffice.org-draw openoffice.org-impress openoffice.org-draw openoffice.org-base openoffice.org-writer oooqs-kde

If it fails, try to run:
sudo apt-get check
to check errors in dependencies.

I tried myself and there seems to be a dependency issue on the (possibly obsolete?) oooqs-kde package.

Try installing oooqs2-kde instead:
sudo apt-get install oooqs2-kde

That seems to have worked for me.
