ubuntu wont finish boot keep getting 76 error

i just installed ubuntu 9.10 today on a dell 380 workstation running xp but it never finished the installation because i keep getting an error 76 and asking for an ubuntu login...it also says something about the usb not recognized im seriously am new to ubuntu help me out

ok well ubuntu and xp have always ran very well together for me in my testing, if you want to keep windows with linux then xp is your best bet (plus its the only good system they have lol) but for the problems your having it may be a bad burn our a bad download. try reburning the iso and install again if you get the same error download a new iso and then it should work.. i will look into that allitle more for you incase it doesnt work so responed after you tryed that and i will try to help you further if i didnt work if it please let me as well i always try to inspire new linux users most of all ubuntu i remember being lost and i still dont now alot but ive gotten pretty good over the years i think its the best way to go depending on what you want a computer for.
