Check to see if you have muted your sound effect on sound preferences.

Thanks, I went into sound preferences and for some reason the sound was not enabled so I checked the box.
Another Problem
I just received an MP3 file and downloaded it and it would not play. So I went into the Ubuntu software center and
loaded some sound software. When I choose to open the file the new software is not available and it just does a
vodeo.

I went through both of the links and downloaded one of the restricted links.

The file that I am trying to listen to is an MP3 of an audio recording that
I did. It is not music
but a voice recording. I opened Rhythmbox and it plays, but there is no
audio. The file has an
MP3 Icon and a lock icon in the locked position. I am a little puzzled that
this would have a lock
since it is my recording from a Samsung Mythic phone.
