ubuntu working, windows crashed

I have ubuntu 7.04 up and running but windows has crashed and I cannot re-install windows will I have to uninstall the linux before I can reboot windows. Have tried to install windows several times but to no avail, if this is the case how do I uninstall ubuntu.

Thanks for your question.

Windows XP has an annoying bug at the installation cd, which causes it to crash when detecting ext3 partitions. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314458 for details.

In order to delete ext3 partitions, you need to start the ubuntu live-cd, start the Gnome Partition Manager and delete all ext3 partitions.

I'd like to recommend to use Ubuntu on the whole drive and set up a VMware virtual machine for your windows installation. That way, you'll have a stable base and a great operating system running and you'll still be able to run some legacy applications on windows xp when needed.
