Teotem and VLC Players both are good for playing all your video files, provided you have installed the appropriate codecs.
just install vlc player and watch the movies...
type in terminal
sudo apt-get install vlc
it will ask for password type the password and then let it install and then play through VLC Media player

If you load Synaptic (your package manager) and search for 'ububtu-restricted' and install the package found you wiill install most of the codecs needed to play videos.. if that does not do it you may need to add an additional repository (Medibuntu) to your package manager and download some additional codecs from there.
Codecs are like drivers, but they are pieces of software that enable you to watch copyrighted or encoded video and sound files.. it's just a case of downloading the right ones for your player to view the content.. I hope this helps.. if you need more help just ask...

Can you help with this problem?
