Ubuntu 9.10 will not boot up unless I go thru setup.

Asked by jcowen1969

The system is a 2004 Dell Dimension 2400 originally with WinXP. It is the standard equip except a new dvd burner from MSI. 40 gig IDE HD, 1.2 G RAM, MB mounted Intel video. I installed the latest version of Ubuntu to try it out. It works great, but when I shut it down, the computer will not boot up. I have found that if I just go to boot menu or setup and then boot "normal", it will boot up fine. This works great otherwise, but it is somewhat annoying. My first try with Linux, so be gentle. :)

This is an Ubuntu question rather than a Launchpad question. I have changed it to Ubuntu instead of Launchpad itself. Hopefully you'll get more responses, I'm sorry I cannot help you directly. :)

I'd boot to liveCD and reinstall grub.
