My root password not asked/missing in installation!!!

Where is my root password?

I installed ubuntu, but it only asked me about first username and password. But where do I get my root password?

Please help.

ubuntu does not use a root password. You do everything by using the sudo command. To run a command as the root user, type sudo followed by the command. In some cases it may be useful to become the root use. To do this, type "sudo su".

This is "by design", as Chris Eagan wrote. Many think this improves security.

But if You install ubuntu in Expert mode, You are asked for a root password.

you can set up a root password, type:

user@domain $ sudo passwd root

and set the root password.

(sorry... i don't speak english :P)

hi..
is miss my root password too..

i tried:
sudo su .... requires the root pasword
sudo passwd root .... requires the root password

what is the root password?
