change cursor for a bigger and a colored one

i cannot see that well, and the cursor is too small and white, so i have problems to see the cursor.
And the same applies to the waiting sign (cirkel with running dots inside.
Is there a way to change it? Under windows i used a dani cursor with changing colors and that worked fine.
I have already searched internet and the ubuntu site, but i cannot find it
