How to install ubuntu

I cant finish installing Ubuntu, the screen is black and i finished the part where it said booting kernal. and thats it.

what version of ubuntu you have?? your problem is the installation or the reboot after the installation??

i have 6.06.1, i think its the installation, im stuck on this one part where it says uncompressing linux.... Ok, booting kernel.

You should give the most recent version a try (that currently is 7.04) - If the problem still is present try the alternate-installCD ... all those CDs can be found at cdimage.ubuntu.com .

do u know wat i can do though wit the 6.06.1 version how i can fix the problem?

I would not use this old version ... It is highly probable that your issue got fixed in the new releases. One thing worth trying is disabling upsplash and remove quite from the boot options (choose edit boot-options in grubs).
