Asked by Craig Adams on 2007-02-23

As Matthias will shortly be discontinuing hosting on his server, the www.ubuntu-za.org site will need to be moved.

Please could alternate hosting be configured and provided.

Incorrect link to bug.

I intended to link to support request #2817

Hi, just wanted to say I've not forgotten, but we're a little shy on resources and a little heavy on todo items... I will be getting to this soon.

Morgan Collett (morgan) said : #3

This request is per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoHosting

* We are an approved LocoTeam.
* Craig has signed the Ubuntu Code of Conduct (as have I)
* We will also need DNS migrated from noris.net - do we need to contact <email address hidden>?

Matthias Urlichs (smurf) said : #4

If you send a gpg-signed request to <email address hidden> (or me personally), you'll get the magic incantation to do your own DNS updates to ubuntu-za.org.

Craig Adams (craigaa) said : #5

As a first, preparatory step in moving the hosting, this is a good start.

The ZA LoCo will still require somewhere to park itself though.

Richard Banks (suboracle) said : #6

I have a server we could use, I may be able to get MoinMoin up too.

Morgan Collett (morgan) said : #7

Richard: I do too, but there is free hosting on offer for LoCoTeams: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoHosting

Richard Banks (suboracle) said : #8

I know. It would be a temporary measure in case Matthias' server goes down before loCo hosting is available.

Morgan Collett (morgan) said : #9

Matthew, please check this out ASAP - our server is being shut down at the end of the week and we need to move the contents and switch over DNS.

Thanks

Details have been sent to Craig A. Adams (gpg encrypted to @karg.co.za)

Craig Adams (craigaa) said : #11

Thank you Matthew. The information has been received.

Final backup of the old site took place this morning and will be passed to Morgan Collett for cleanup and uploading.

Will you be able to adjust the DNS entries for the domain?

Morgan Collett (morgan) said : #12

Hi Matthew

I can't FTP to the server you specified using the given username/password.

Secondly, I've created a DNS record on eshu.ubuntu-eu.org per http://www.ubuntu-eu.org/?page_id=5, but we need to get the authoritative nameserver changed from dns[123].noris.net to this server - right? Can you help with this?

Thanks
Morgan

You should use scp / sftp; send me a copy of your public SSH key so that
I can enable that.

The FTP user name and password are not being accepted by the new server.

Please could you confirm these to Morgan and myself.

Kindest Regards

Craig A. Adams

Morgan Collett (morgan) said : #15

I've sent my ssh public key to Matthias.

An additional thank you to Matthias for all the assistance.

Yet another thank you to Morgan for all the time spent.
