Trash can toggle between empty and full

I noticed that the trash can on the desktop will not toggle between the full and empty states - it remains full, even when the trash can has been emptied. This does not seem to be affected by the icon used for the trash can - whether it's the Ubuntu default or the Vista transparent recycle bin or the Mac wire basket, they all remain full even if the trash is empty. How can this be corrected? Thanks.

It seems your icon theme's problem.

Could you upload a picture about the screenshot?
