[Suggestion] Option to Change Binary Prefix in Nautilus

Asked by Art on 2010-04-19

Would it be possible for you to add an option to change the binary prefixes used by Nautilus?

I’m not sure whether they decided to go with the SI or IEC standard for the 10.04 release since they went back and forth so many times, but I do know that there is no option to change it.

Here are the two different ways of displaying the units https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UnitsPolicy

Thanks!

I don't find there's an option to change it.

When I upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04, I will have a look.

After using 10.04 final, it appears they use base-2 sizes, with SI prefixes which according to the units policy, is incorrect. I too still cannot find an option to change it so if you could add the option to use base-10 SI prefixes, or base-2 IEC prefixes, that would be great!

Thanks
