When I click unlock, it doesn't prompt for a password and no changes are allowed

Asked by Sensiva

I am running Ubuntu-teawk on Karmic 64bit, When I try to make changes I have to click unlock first to get the list changable, but it doesn't prompt for a password, nothing at all happens, I can't add PPA to sources.

Any ideas how to fix that?
