Using Greek on Ubuntu 9.10

Asked by Alex

I installed Ubuntu 9.10. I chose United Kingdom when asked in the beginning about which language I prefer and not Greek. However I need Greek for firefox and Office. How can I change the language from english to greek and back again? Will Office have proofing tools for the Greek language?
Thank you in advance

Hi Alex,

You can use the System > Administration > Language support tool to install and switch between languages. This will allow you to e.g. install the Greek translations and other related packages (e.g. spellchecking for OpenOffice.org if it is provided), start a session in Greek and then switch back to English if you prefer it.

Note that you will only be able to switch languages for the whole desktop, that is, you won't be able to switch languages only for particular applications. This is a design decision of the GNOME desktop, in which Ubuntu is based.

Hi Alex,

Did that solve your question? If so, could you mark the support request as Solved by going to https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+question/88276?

Thanks!

David.
