about Ubuntu Bengali (BD) Translators Team

Asked by nasir khan saikat

Hello ,

There is a group in launch Pad named "Ubuntu Bengali (BD) Translators Team" (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-bn-bd). But i think it is not active now because there are many pending membership requests and the name of the team is not listed here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TranslatingUbuntu/Contact/Teams.

I want work in Ubuntu translation project (Bengali-bd) and want to do this as a group. What can i do now? one option is you can inform the current coordinator to be more active or you could make me the coordinator of that group.

Another problem is there is no mailing list of that group , could you help me to create a mailing list like the other translation group of ubuntu.

thanks

Hi Hasir,

The team appointed for Bengali in Ubuntu is

https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-bn

Can you please contact them and work togheter with that team.

The other team (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-bn-bd) is not "official".
You can always check the official teams here:
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/+groups/ubuntu-translators/

My suggestions is to contact the ubuntu-l10n-bn team and ask them to add their contact on the wiki page. Also the current Ubuntu Bengali team is an open team and this will lead to poor translations.

When talking to the current ubuntu-l10n-bn coordinators please let them know about this issue and ask them to moderate the team and assure that all translators are knowledgable in translating into Bengali.
You can find some info about assuring translations quality in this guide:
https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/Guide

If you have any other question, please let us know.

Also please inform us about the results of your discussion or ask for further help (if required)

Cheers,

Nasir, in order to fully enable Ubuntu Translations into Bengali we will need to create a locale for it.

You can find more info about glibc locales here:

http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/guide/locales/glibc
