Thanks for your interest in translating Ubuntu into Ganda. However, there is already a LP team with a more appropriate name:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-lg

It uses the language code lg instead of lug, which is consistent with the language code used in Launchpad:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/focal/+lang/lg

And Ganda (not Luganda) seems to be the established name of your language in the Linux world.

So I would suggest that you join that other team. Once you have done so, I'll be happy to approve it.

Hello,

I wanted to join the Ganda team but I could not find it and the Ganda page
itself says there is no team for thee language. Additionally, while trying
to contribute I got a message along the lines that the available
translation
are from an internal Ubuntu team.

Help me join that group.

Thanks

Good. Please let us know when you have become a member of that team. Then I'll approve it for Ganda translation.

Also, let us know if the owner/creator of that team would not approve your request within a reasonable time-scale.

Hello,

Its been a week since I asked for approval to join the Ganda translation
team
but I have got no response from the administrator.

If this is reasonable time to wait I can wait a little longer, however, if
its not
then I would like to know what I should do next.

I asked for help to solve the problem:

https://rt.ubuntu.com/Ticket/Display.html?id=35127

Let's await the response to that request.

You are now a member with admin privileges of ~ubuntu-l10n-lg, and I have approved the team for translation of Ubuntu into Ganda.

Can you please add a description to the team page and set up a mailing list, as you did for the other team you created. (You can delete the latter team afterwards.)

I would also like you to subscribe to this mailing list:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

Important annoncements are posted there, and that mailing list is also a good place to ask for help if/when you need to know more about how things work..

Finally, this is a page with some info and recommendations for new translators teams:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam

I wish you all luck with the Ganda translation!
