Application for Ubuntu Wolof Translators Team

Asked by Saer Kamara

Good Day,

I'm hereby applying the new translation team I created to translate Ubuntu into Wolof Language (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-wol).
Regarding the list in this page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam :

- I checked for existence of similar groups. There seems to be none.
- Locale, keyboards and fonts: Wolof is already coded as ISO639-3:wol
- Team subscription policy has been modified to "moderated policy".
- Team information: team page has been properly documented.
- Team communication: a mailing list has been created <email address hidden> for it.
- Guidelines: We are currently working on it and should finish it before the dead line as mentioned in this TranslationGuidelines' web page.
- Upstream collaboration: no other projects working on Wolof translation .
- Coordinator: I'm the coordinator. I also subscribed to the ubuntu-translation mailing list, as requested.

Best regards,
Saer Kamara

Hello Saer,

thanks for contacting us!
Your request looks OK to me!

One thing to note: when you are an approved Ubuntu translation team, you can request an @lists.ubuntu.com mailing list address for your team, so that anyone can join it. Launchpad mailing list are for team members only.

Another thing: I suggest you to make contact also with upstream projects in order to translate the most part of the operating system. Some pieces of Ubuntu are better to be translated within Debian or Gnome, in order for everybody to be able to use your work. Also, consider that some part of the operating system, if not translated upstream, might not show up as translated in Ubuntu (this is more the case with the Debian installer).

I would like to wait also other Ubuntu Translator admin input on your request, but if I do not receive any in 3 days, I will approve your request.

Ciao!

Hello Milo,
thanks for the quick response

should i send a mail to <email address hidden> to request the creation of the mailing list ?
As i said we are working on the guideline but we are not allowed
to create a new page on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ even if we use the copy option.

Best regards,

As soon as the team is approved, yes, you can send an email to them.
Lets wait a couple of days for another +1 on your request. ;)

Thas is rather strange, you should better hop on IRC in the #docs
channel and ask there... sorry, but I do not use the wiki much often
in these days.

Ciao.
