support request to create team for rw_RW, Kinyarwanda

Asked by Emmanuel Habumuremyi

1. I have not found any team on Kinyarwanda to join.
2. More than 12million people speak Kinyarwanda according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinyarwanda
so it's real in the world today spoken by people naturally in their daily lives.
3. a) A local was created by Steve Murphy and Mr. Safali in 2004, rw_RW
http://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=blob;f=localedata/locales/rw_RW;h=437df4bb2c893b8762d42f577dc2d660b727daab;hb=HEAD2. About 11 million people speak Kinyarwanda in Rwanda, but current estimation says that more than 20 million can understand Kinyarwand (Southern Uganda, Western Tanzania, Eastern Kongo Kinshasa and the whole Burundi).
b) I am not sure whether there are specific fonts for Kinyarwanda.
I would like to create a team called "Ubuntu Kinyarwanda Translators".

Hi Emmanuel,

As the next step, could you please create a Launchpad team for translating Ubuntu into Kinyarwanda?

This is explained in the "Launchpad team" step in:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam

The team should probably be named 'ubuntu-l10n-rw'.

Thanks.

Hi :)

3. b) Apparently a standard "Latin" font is fine so a normal USA or English keyboard would be fine too.

Hi :)

Ok, so the next step is to take this advice

"Launchpad team. Create a new Launchpad team for your language. The team's name must accord to the following rules:
  * ubuntu-l10n-<ISO 639 language code> - Where <ISO 639 language code> is a two-letter or a three-letter (if the two-letter one is not available) ISO 639 code. You can search for the code for your language 'here'. If you don't find your code there, you may want to look at the more comprehensive ISO 639-3 list"

'here' = http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/langcodes-search.php
where i saw rw_RW but there are other choices.

So, the form on this page needs to be filled in
https://launchpad.net/people/+newteam
Obviously the team will only have 1 person in it to start with but more are likely to join later on after things are set-up for them.
Regards from
Tom :)
