Hi Andrés,

I'll be happy to appoint the Aragonese team to Aragonese, but before, could you please answer these questions?:

* Could you tell us in a bit more detail how you addressed all of the points at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam? In particular, I'd like to know if there are any existing translation guidelines or you are planning to create any. Also, if you are aware of the existence of any upstream Aragonese translation teams and if you are in touch with them.

* I see that https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-an is a bit empty. Could you please follow the recommendations on the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam and add some more info on the purpose of the team, how to join it, etc.? This will not take you long, and it will help potential contributors to know how they can participate. If they land on an empty page with only a couple of links, that might drive them away, it's just a matter of making contribution easier. It's probably best to add this information in Aragonese, and not in English.

Thanks!

Yes, we have a "beta" of a guideline and a word-reference list made the past
year, but it has to be revised due to the new way of writting aragonese,
made official a few months ago. The word list (replega de parolas) can be
found in the webpage, inside the wiki.

I'm re-sending your email right now to the mail-list of the group, and we

Simply reply to this support request via e-mail or through the web interface (see the link at the bottom of this e-mail).

> Sorry about my english by the way :)

Your English is very good, don't worry. None of the people receiving your replies is a native English speaker, so although I can only speak for myself, my English is not perfect, either.

If you prefer, though, you can also reply or ask more questions in Spanish. I'm Catalan, and although I cannot fully understand Aragonese, I do understand Spanish as a common ground.

¿Te aviso a ti directamente?

saludos,
Andres

¿Te aviso a ti directamente?

Enhorabuena!

Finalmente, unos cuantos comentarios:

 * ¿Ahora que el equipo es oficial, podríais haceros cargo de los puntos finales en la sección "After the team has been accepted" del documento https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam? Gracias.

David.

----

Hi Andrés, Daniel,

I apologise for the delay in responding. One of the problems was that the support request was marked as asked in Aragonese. Everyone subscribed to e-mail notifications in ubuntu-translations only receives them if asked in English (we cannot speak all the languages). That's why we did not receive any e-mail about the new replies to this thread.

Once this has been settled, let me answer:

¿Te aviso a ti directamente?

There is no need to prove with detail the previous work of the team, the important thing is that Ubuntu translation teams are aware of the upstream teams, and that they work with them whenever possible. In your particular case Daniel tells us that you are the same people who translate e.g. GNOME and Firefox, which already addresses that point.

As you've added more information on how to join the group, and seeing that guidelines are at least in the works, I'm pleased to appoint your team for Ubuntu translations into Aragonese. Congratulations!

Some final comments:

 * Now that the team has been appointed, could you please address the final points in the "After the team has been accepted" section on the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/StartingTeam document? Thanks.
 * I'm also a member of Softcatalà, so if you've got any question about us or we can help you in any way, just let me know.
 * Apart from Softcatalà I recommend you to look at the work of Softastur (http://softastur.org/), who in a very short time have achieved translating nearly the whole of Ubuntu, contributing back to upstream at the same time.
 * Independently from Ubuntu, I'd also encourage you to describe a bit more what Softaragonés is at http://wiki.softaragones.org. You can do this in a few minutes, and I believe it would be a great help for new contributors or people interested in your work. Looking at the wiki right now, I cannot tell if you are a non-profit association, a Linux users group, or if you've got any support from the Aragonese regional government.
 * You mentioned that you had based your glossary on the one from Softcatalà. Apart from this, one of the elements in which we base our work is our Translation Guide (http://www.softcatala.org/wiki/Guia_d%27estil/Guia_2010). I'd recommend starting something similar, and if possible work with the linguistic authority for Aragonese to start a collaboration.

Regards,
David.

Muchas gracias,

Gracias.

Un saludo,
David.

Gracias!
