Future developing

Asked by alexisme

I would like to know if new features are planned for this appeared and wich ones they are...

I have some concrete questions as well:
-will it be a modus to change the led color for the notifications? (and this appeared per appeared?)
-changing the notification sound/vibrations for telegram or gmail for example
-activate different notification sounds for each app
-have control on sound: If you use earphones, you can't change the normalsound settings!
-create a custom keyboard through app
-see wich apps can add a statistic on the circle of lock screen page (and modify options!)

And surely many more!!!

What is planned??

Hello,

I'm working on the next release of UTTT, so I can already provide you a first list of features:
- Show percentage on the top of Unity8 panel
- A few Unity8 settings available in the convergence mode
- A new Applications/Scopes list, inspired by TweakGeek.
- A System Information panel
- A tool which you can use to revoke USB debugging authorizations (the old "ADB on lock" has been deprecated).

I've posted on G+ some screenshot of the new version of the app.

> Will it be a modus to change the led color for the notifications? (and this appeared per appeared?)
The color seems to be hard-coded[1] in Unity8, so there is nothing we can do, for now.

> Changing the notification sound/vibrations for telegram or gmail for example
What you're asking seems to be supported by the Push Notifications protocol[2], but no app provides an UI for customizing those values.
Anyway, I believe this is something that Telegram/GMail/etc. should do by their own, since it's not a "platform" settings.

> Activate different notification sounds for each app
Same as above.

> Have control on sound: If you use earphones, you can't change the normalsound settings!
I'd suggest you to file a bug into the "canonical-device-system-image" project[3].
In Android, you can set the volume levels for ringtone, apps and alarms directly from the Settings menu.
IMHO, the "Sound" menu in the Ubuntu System Settings app needs some improvement, so I'd try to implement this in the official app first (so that the UX team can start working on it as soon as they can).

> Create a custom keyboard through app
On-screen keyboard? I think that's not possible (and there's no support for third party keyboards yet).
Do you mean a custom layout for physical keyboards? That could be an idea, but, generally speaking, the support for keyboards is still in progress and it will be improved during the following months.
Anyway, it would be nice to have something like this...

> See wich apps can add a statistic on the circle of lock screen page (and modify options!)
This is something I would like to see too. However I'm not sure if it's something already implemented in libusermetrics (i.e. the library that handles statistics in the lock screen).
