Maybe I'm in the wrong place-Terminal

I am a later-comer to ANY linux distro but, chose Ubunto as the one to start with. I say I'm in the wrong place because just the FORUM looks different, nevermind the OS. I am looking for how to locate the terminal. I'm using a live cd so don't even know if it's here.
