Why does the numeric phone keyboard appear after clicking on a number in the contacts?

Hi folks,

what is the benefit of the following:
When opening a contact and clicking on one of its numbers, the phone (bq E5 with OTA11) doesn't imediatelly start dialing. In order to make it do so, one has to push the green button on the "phone keyboard" with the selected number in the "display".

If I was asked, I'd directly start dialing.
