Problem with official 10.04 ami with small EC2 instance

Asked by AlexC

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the 10.04 AMI, ami-6c06f305 (32-bit us-east). Specifically the problem is that when I take a snapshot of the ami (directly after first launching it - so not installing anything), and I then try to launch this snapshot with a 'small' ec2 instance (in same region), the resulting instance has about 40% of its cpu taken up by a 'mountall' command and this doesn't change. This makes the instance virtually unusable.

I've launched my snapshot as a micro and a small instance and this problem only happens when launching a small instance, micro is fine. This happens every time.

Can someone else check to see if they see the same please and if so, I'll raise a bug.

Many thanks,
Alex
