It's impossible to say when future point versions of the Ubuntu Font Family will be released, until they have actually been released.

The Ubuntu (operating system) project has *time-based* releases, where the dates are known, and those features that are in a suitable state to ship by certain key cut-off dates get included and shipped. This is a different process to the Ubuntu Font Family project, which has a *quality-based releases, making those releases on an as and-when basis, when individual parts are ready, or have completed their individual beta processes.

Future versions may indeed also have different numbers that those used in planning; the 0.81 and 0.82 milestones are there for grouping, and prioritising bugs against, but those releases may end up being called something else, for example 0.90, or 1.xx:

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+milestone/0.81
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+milestone/0.82

In summary, the best answer I can offer is "when it's ready". If you'd like to assist with helping to ensure that it's possible to know "when it's ready" more easily, then this comes from testing. You'd be most welcome to join the font beta test team and help out with that testing:

Currently there is an alpha of Ubuntu Arabic. At the moment we particularly need Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic and Hebrew users.

Does that help? Are there any points or areas you'd like me to try and expand?

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. My curiosity rose out of the fact that there was an expected release time associated with 0.81 and 0.82 on launchpad.

I had signed up for testing but I end up using the fonts on Windows mostly and that too mostly inside a Java Swing application (Intellij IDEA) for coding. When I can I will try to contribute with testing.

Are beta versions with fixes released on the beta testing channel frequently?

Great font btw!

Can you help with this problem?
