Will Ubuntu be suitable for my old laptop

I have an old Windows ME laptop with only 6GB hard disc and 96 Ram. The laptop will no longer connect to the Internt.Would a Ubuntu installation work albeit and older version? I would want to use dial up

I'm afraid the answer is no.

You should try other linux distributions like Damn Small Linux.
