unable to add reminder

Device: Bq aquaris e5 hd ubuntu edition
Ubuntu 15.04 OTA-10.1

I deleted a reminder in the clock app. Now I am unable to add a new one.
When I go to the reminders in the clock app it says I should click the plus icon, there is no plus icon, it should be at the top right corner of the screen but instead there is a garbagecan icon and the app has crashed.

I tried deleting and reinstalling it but this doesn't seem to help. I tried deleting it and restarting my phone before reinstalling it and noticed it was already back by itself.

What can I do to resolve this issue besides doing a full factory reset?
