Autorotate not working on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 (202102-28709)

Asked by Christian Kastner

Hello, I installed some Ubuntu Versions (20.04, 22.04, 24.04) on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (Gen 6) and tried the features. It works all fine, but the display doesn't rotate if the device is converted to tablet mode. Monitoring the iio-sensor-proxy in the terminal doesn't give back any reaction of the sensor. I did some research and I think it could be a kernel issue (installed version Linux 6.8.0-36-generic at the moment). Could you please tell me if this is a known issue and if there is a solution for it?

I also tried to install a workaround from gitlab (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/hadess/iio-sensor-proxy/ ), but it doesn't work either.

I'm wondering about the autorotation feature not working, because the device is originally certified for Ubuntu 22.04 (and some special OEM kernel). At the moment I have installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on the device, because the touchscreen seems to work better with it. Anyway, if you could recommend me a specific version where the touchscreen and autorotation work normally, that would be great!

Further system details:
GNOME-Version: 46
Window-Manager: Wayland
Firmware-Version: N32ET91W (1.67 )

Kind regards,
Christian
