Install with RAID 1 from controller

Asked by Reinaldo Velasquez

Hello, how can I install Ubuntu on RAID1 created in the storage controller?
All the guides tell me that I have to create a software RAID during the installation process.

Thanks in advance

Jeff Lane  suggests this article as an answer to your question. In addition to the FAQ with info on where to get questions like this answered, it's not an easy question to answer. Most of those guides you read are for desktops and presume you're using software RAID to accomplish that. If you have a hardware RAID card, then you configure RAID using the card maker's config utiility and Linux will just see the array. If you are talking about firmware RAID using the onboard controller. you configure that in the computer's Setup utility. But Firmware RAID is not well supported. If it works, great, it will work and Linux will see it as a single drive. If it does not work, Linux will see it as two or more physical drives. Unfortunately that type of RAID is very dependent on the drivers supporting it.
FAQ #1945: “Where can I get help or technical support?”.

Can you help with this problem?
