Feedback on the HP EliteBook 850 G8 Notebook PC (202103-28760)

Asked by cilla

Hi, just reporting on my experience....based on my own testing and troubleshooting.....
I was not able to install 20.4 on this model in Norway from any of the downloads provided thus far....but the 18.04 LTS iso worked....and I can upgrade to 20.04 when this 850 G8 with Intel Iris XE GPU connected to the internet....

Just in case anyone out there is having trouble booting their HP EB 850 G8 using various 22.4 / 20.4 iso downloads currently

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's valuable to hear about different users' experiences with specific hardware and software versions. It appears that you encountered issues with installing Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 on your HP EliteBook 850 G8 model in Norway.

It's not uncommon for certain hardware configurations to have compatibility issues with specific operating system versions. In such cases, using a previous LTS (Long-Term Support) release like Ubuntu 18.04 can be a viable solution, as it might have better driver support for your hardware.

Upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04 from 18.04 when your laptop is connected to the internet is a reasonable approach. This way, you can take advantage of the latest features and security updates that the newer LTS version offers.

For anyone else experiencing similar issues, it's always recommended to check the official hardware compatibility list for the specific Ubuntu version you are trying to install. Additionally, consulting the Ubuntu community and forums can be helpful for finding workarounds and solutions for specific hardware configurations.

Again, thank you for sharing your experience, and I hope your Ubuntu installation and upgrade process go smoothly! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Happy computing!
