Dell Vostro 3478 - finger print scanner not working

Asked by shekhar.sathaye

I have a Dell Vostro 3478 with fingerprint scanner. I have Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I installed fingerprint gui. It is not able to detect the fingerprint scanner. It shows 'No Devices found', although in the list of devices it is showing 'Validity Sensors, Inc. (0x138a) unknown device (0xa6)'.
On running lsusb at terminal, the output shows, 'Bus 001 Device 005: ID 138a:00a6 Validity Sensors, Inc.'

What can be the problem? Any help/input will be appreciated.
