Feedback on the Dell Inspiron 5575 - Loki 15 AMD

Asked by Warren W. Weiss on 2019-03-04

I have a Dell Inspiron 15, model 5575, with an AMD Ryzen 5 2500U on which I installed Ubuntu Mate 18.04. The machine occasionally freezes and I have to hard reset the laptop via the power button.

I've set the kernel parameters:

acpi_osi=Linux
acpi=noirq

But, that hasn't solved the issue.

I've also installed "amd-disable-c6," but the service will not start.

Is this issue particular to AMD processors? If LTS 16.04 is certified, why not 18.04?

FAQ #2193: “XXXX is broken, I need to file a bug”.

Hello,
that might be a bug in the kernel, please try to upgrade your system first to see if it can fix your issue.
If not, you can try to switch to the HWE kernel stack (linux-generic-hwe-18.04 for 4.18 kernel, linux-generic-hwe-18.04-edge for 5.0 kernel) [1]

If none of above works, please file a bug with "ubuntu-bug linux"
command in a terminal (ctrl + alt + t).

Thanks
