Feedback on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M920q - M920q

Asked by Rudolf Ladinig

I have severe network problems with M920q. Ubuntu 16.04 networking didn't work at all, after installing 18.04 with hwe-kernel and compiling the network module (e1000e) networking is working for some minutes and then changes to very slow response times (ping abot some 1000 ms ).

Hello,
M920q is quite new (2018), so it's quite normal that some devices are not working with older releases (16.04, which released back in 2016)
If you really needs 16.04, give the 16.04.6 a try, it has a newer kernel that might support the Ethernet device.

You can give it a try with 18.10 or the soon-to-be-released 19.04 (came with the latest 5.0 kernel), if it's still not working, please open a bug report with "ubuntu-bug linux" command.
Thanks
