P52 is not compatible by ubunutu 16.04 or 18.04

Asked by Josh Albert

I've attempted to install 16.04 and 18.04 on the lenovo p52.
This is contrary to the purported support claimed here (https://certification.ubuntu.com/hardware/201806-26280/)
The instal only proceeds when discrete graphics is enabled.
Touchpad fails to be recognized.
Function keys (e.g. screen dimming) do not work.
Thunderbolt does not work.
Resuming from suspended state does not work.

The same problems are reported for other distros on forums.
This was a 3500$ workstation laptop and it cannot run Linux.
Very disappointed and frustrated.

Hi,
you can try the linux-oem kernel [1] on your system,
just run "sudo apt-get install linux-oem", it might have the driver you need

Otherwise you will need to file bug reports (with "ubuntu-bug linux"
command in a terminal) or go to the community for help.

Can you help with this problem?
