Feedback on the Dell Latitude 5590 - Breckenridge 15 MLK

Asked by Blaine Williams

After a BIOS update, I can't get Ubuntu (or even Fedora) to fully boot at all on this device. It starts from a USB disk but after selecting "Try Ubuntu", I see white text scrolling for just a moment and then it goes to a black screen where it remains. Before a BIOS update, Ubuntu seemed to work fine. This might have something to do with how Dell is handling meltdown/spectre. Any ideas on how to get Ubuntu to boot on this device?

Hello,

My colleague has contacted Dell and confirmed that there will be a new update in the next version to address this issue.

Please check Dell's website for the BIOS update.
Thanks
