I've been using this computer for 2 years now. When I bought it, I used Windows 8.1 but later I discovered that it also had Ubuntu 14.04 on it. So I've used it for 2 years and every time an software update comes, I can't update it because it says I need a password. I've tried to unlock it but it always comes. What can I do?

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword describes a procedure how you can set a new password if you have access to the console screen.
