Bmc5709 not claimed

I am installing Ubuntu 16.04.3 and the LOM NICs are not being detected. They are BMC5709 ports per lspci. The ports are active with activity lights but do not show in "ifconfig -a". When trying to add them them to the interfaces file and ifup them, it says the devices are not found. I know that the devices are working due to them being available and usable during the install procedure of Ubuntu (ntp and cli ping work normally during install).
