Unable to install new version of edubuntu

Asked by amal v p

My inspiron 15 5000 series(5559) is pre installed with Ubuntu 14.04.
I want to install a version of edubuntu. When I am trying to install the 64 bit version of the edubuntu in uefi mode, It is showing an error in a dialogue box. ( This dialogue box looks same as the normal window when we install Ubuntu, like selecting language, or region, etc ).
The dialogue box includes" dell" symbol in the top in blue colour with white background .
(new line)
"This dell recovery media can be used to restore the original factory software. It is recommended you backup all important data before Running this tool."
(new line)
"Error : This recovery media only functions on dell and alienware systems "

Hopefully waiting for your valuable suggestions
Thanking you in advance....

Hello,
just curious, any specific reason that makes you trying to replace your pre-installed Ubuntu with edubuntu?
the pre-installed version may contains some proprietary driver that is not included in edubuntu.

You can find the difference between Ubuntu and edubuntu here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/153660/what-is-the-difference-between-edubuntu-and-ubuntu
These packages can be installed on you Ubuntu as well.

The laptop is for educational purposes,Teaching students, so many packages for teaching are available in that, so I want that,

Adding one more point, I applied a factory restore within Ubuntu, but it got crashed during the restore process.
So now I can't boot to the pre installed version or can't install new edubuntu. Totally trapped...

Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions. I got a solution for my problem, but there may be some perfect answers for my problem.

What I did is booted a live windows cd & reached the point where to install Windows on HDD. I formated the entire hard disk and quit the windows installation procedure. Now I have a fresh HDD (1tb free space). Then tried installing Ubuntu 64 bit in uefi mode, the installation process was perfectly completed and have my edubuntu 14.04.
